Carbon laminions ?

Thought I would start a new topic to try and find out everyone's experience with carbon laminations. I ordered a Silvertip recurve, wondering if the double carbon limbs ate worth the expense ?

It really depends on what you're looking for.  IMO, carbon adds a little speed and a little noise, which could almost cancel out the extra speed if you ask me.  

If you have the $$ and want to try it, do it.  

In my experience, wood limbs are almost always quieter.  Carbon makes a higher pitched noise and is often referred to as the carbon "ping" instead of the wood "thump".

I spoke with a bowyer at a show recently who just started to use carbon limbs. He told me that the carbon limbs did not out perform the wood limbs. He said that the only benefit he saw was lateral strength.

My experience is they add noise, no noticeable performance. That was in the bow I tried, your results may vary.

I have only had one bow with carbon, but my experience pretty much mirrors all the others above me!

I almost bought a bow from a big company (won't say which one) but the bowyer told me it won't make a difference for what I wanted in a hunting bow. You know they're telling  the truth when they talk you out of buying the more expensive model.

The XTL lam that Jim Neaves uses in his Centaur LB's is worth every penny at $75.  As for the other carbon it's based on design and  personal preference

If it's about stability, Stabil Core might be as useful as carbon.  

Some bowyers seem to have carbon to a T and others less so.  Learning how to use carbon is a pricey pursuit.
