Anyone camo dip their longbow that had streaky glass?
« on: April 29, 2017, 07:15:00 PM »
Has anyone had a bow they loved a bow, but hate the streaky glass? I have one and am looking into possibly camo dipping it. Has anyone else done this?

I saw someone who had a grey laminated bow dipped in a tree bark pattern. It looked superb. Blended in perfectly with oak bark.

IMO a streaky glass bow is a perfect candidate for skins or limb tape.  I know a lot of guys don't like skins, but to me they look a lot nicer than dipped bows, especially if the riser looks nice.  I like seeing some wood on a trad bow.

I once built a bow with beautiful zebrawood veneers but, the glass was extremely streaky.  I lightly sanded the limbs just I would before putting on finish, only spray painted them instead.   A few coast of finish over the paint and they have held up great for several years.  I just wished I would have used chosen a color closer to ones used in years past instead of brown.

I put snake skins on mine.  Only one limb had a streak on the back of it.  But I thought it came out really well.  I am always getting compliments on the skins at the 3D shoots.

I am old school.  I have no problem spraying paint on the bow.
