GrizzlyStik spine deflection? need help !

does anyone could tell me what are the spine deflections for both the sitka and alaskan GrizzlyStiks and for both sides (stiff and weak sides)...I don't need the safaris' one cause I ever have them and ever spine tested them..

Sitkas are 40-55#+ spine
Alaskans are 50-80#+ spine
The continuous taper is what makes them forgiving, and gives the wide range.

Darryl Quidort, in "Masters Of The Barebow Vol. 1", says he bareshaft tunes using whatever weight point he plans on using. He starts out with a full length shaft and cuts it down little by little, until until he is satisfied with the flight.

Not that anyone would be as dumb as I was (you should have heard what OL called me when I "fessed up")  but following the brief outline of Tom's post, make sure when you're cuttin or changing weight in bare shafting...you do exactly the same thing to the fletched as you do to the bare. The shoot for comparison with each change(s).

And be sure to set up the bow exactly as you want it for hunting: silencers, quiver, tip protectors, etc. IT all matters!

thanks sirs, but that was not my question, I can read as anybody what is writen on the alaska bowhunting supply's site...I need the inch deflection  measured with a spine tester...my own measures on the safari shafts shows a 208lb spine and the bare shaft tuning method shows that they are too stiff for bows under 80# even with a 250gr point, so I would like to know the spine deflection for the other shafts...

Didn't mean to offend you, Sir.  it'd cost too much to call Ed from France.

What I can share, without benefit of any technical backing to take it beyond "report" is that carbon/graphite arrows have been reported by the engineering types to require something called a 'dynamic spine' testor vs. the traditional static spine test.

Although I risk sharing what you don't wish to know, I'd add that my AK models are almost too "weak" for my bows, because the Morrison recurves are cut 3/16" past center... yup, PAST. Takes a very stiff arrow at only 50# draw weight at 28".  

I give my "test kit" to guys wth mid-60# draw in longbows that have shelves cut to AMO (1/8" SHY of center) and even though they're drawing a LOT more draw weight (12-16# more) for the same length draw as me, bare shafts show STIFF for them with the same arrows that are weak in my 50# bow due to the vast difference in center cut on the riser. FWIW.

I have one Alaskan left and it spined it at 94#. I found that they varied a bit in the 2 dozen I had.....from 88-101#. It (the spine difference)didn't seem to affect the arrow flight as they grouped quite well. I might add that these shafts were some of the first that Ed offered to the public. I was very pleased with the performance and durability of the Grizzly Sticks. Mike
