Recommendations to hunt free range Red Stag?
«

I'm from Oregon and would like recommendations to hunt Red Stag with my stickbow?
Any such thing as hunting without an outfitter?
Or for that matter for fallow, sika, axis in other countries that can give me a real hunting experience without the price tag and fluff?
Not after trophy antlers but a mature animal with minimal help from outfitter.
Thanks

I believe New Zealand could provide you the opportunity you are looking for. PM ozzy clint and ask him for more info. He is from Australia and has extensive knowledge about NZ.

Chris,
I have looked into this also and agree with Bisch, New Zealand is the place. Red Deer are in quite a few countries but only New Zealand allows DIY hunting - as far as I was able to find out. Always been on my bucket list.

Thanks guys, this really helps and I will look into it.
If you win the lottery NH then you can afford to hire an outfitter and don't wait for me unless I happen to make it big in the stock market.
Have you been bear hunting at all, doing any good?
Wish I were home to video you stalking one.

I was in NZ with my bow 2 years ago. You walk into the DOC office get a map and go hunt. Doesn't get a lot easier than that. I also hooked up with some local guys.

N.Z. has brown trout bigger than their red stags but they will be pissed if you shoot any, take a fly rod instead.
