Millennium - New stand and Customer Service
« on: May 18, 2017, 10:24:00 AM »
I know many people know how good and comfortable the stands are, and they are! But, I haven't read much about their customer service, whether it be good or bad.  In my opinion, customer service is just as important, or more important than the product.

I recently purchased a new Millennium stand, the m60u.  I purchased the M7 last year and liked it, but it left some to be desired.  I didn't like the way the seat laid up with the short platform.

After purchasing a m60u, it was the answer to my problem, which wasn't really a problem, just a personal preference.

When I got the stand, I set my son, Beau, up in it, and he approved!

Though everything looks good, not everything was right.  This picture shows the problem.

Notice how one cable is tight and the other is loose.  After some close inspection, I saw that the stand wasn't perfectly straight.  I contacted Millennium and they sent me a return label and said they would fix it.  Not only would they fix it, but they would get it out the same day, and they did.  When I got the new stand back 3 days later, they said they replaced the platform and everything should be right.  I put it back together and though it was closer to right, it was still off just a little.  One cable was holding just the slightest bit more weight than the other.  I contacted them again and they sent me out a new stand with a return shipping label and said they had never had this happen before.  That the stand I have must be a "fubar".

I know some may see it as a problem that the second stand came back wrong, but crap happens.  It's what you do with that crap that defines your business, imo.

I am a very pleased customer and will continue to do business with them!  Just need a few more receivers. lol

A similar thing happened to me with my new Ford pickup.  One of the cables on the tailgate is not taking any weight.  I mentioned it to the dealer when I brought it in for the first service, but it was the same way when I got it back.  The service rep said he had called Ford, but Ford said that was just the way they were made, and it wasn't a warranty issue.  Now three years later, the same cable still isn't taking any weight, but if I load the tailgate, that end will sag down until it takes weight.  Great solution, huh?    :banghead:

That does sound like they definitely stood behind their product, but.......for me, I hate sitting in a treestand where I have to rest my back against the trunk of the tree. That's not anything against their stand. It's just one of those personal reference things you mentioned above!

Customer service means a little more to me than the product itself.  The reality is there are LOTS of GREAT options to choose from in almost any category of manufactured good.  I choose to do business with people and companies who make what I need at reasonable/competitive prices and who have a very strong reputation for customer service.  Sounds like Millennium did everything that they could to fix it.  Honestly too, shipping may have bumped it out of alignment if one of the shipping guys let it fall on a corner or something; or it could just be one that slipped through quality control.

I have no idea what it was.  I got the new one in today and it had the same problem.  Something has to be just slightly off on their measurements or something.  I emailed them informing them about it.  I'll see what they say about it.

I'm' not sure if they've changed a way they make them or something like that, but I seriously doubt more peopler would have experienced this and not said something about it.  I couldn't find anyone else experiencing the same problem through a google search..

FWIW, they also sent me a couple "extras".  A hat and a shirt.  I'm still wanting the stand.  Just going to have to figure out what's going on with these.

You should look at their M100U.  IT's like a recliner in a tree.

Man how hard is it to cut two cables and have the ends crimped on rather its for a tree stand or a Ford pick up tailgate?
A rule is a simple device to measure with and with today's machinery and quality control it shouldn't of went out the door .
Not all folks would of recognized this problem and just hung it on a tree and could of had a life/death situation due to their neglect.
They better have a recall on these stands before a lawsuit comes nocking on their door.
Thanks for sharing the issue with everyone and one more reason I sit in a Huntmore these days.

Keefers,

I don't think the average man would have noticed it.  It's only off by a 1/4" or so.  I am not sure what's going on with it.  I have 2 other Millennium stands and none of them have any problems.  I don't think it has anything to do with the cables.  Some how, the platform and main support tuning aren't lining up perfectly when mounted.  I am presuming that one of them are just slightly off.  Like a fraction of an inch and its causing it to off by a 1/2 an inch up top.

I wouldn't want a customer worried about a possible problem getting dumped out of a stand and I think they should pay for the return (which sounds as if they are trying to make it right)then send another stand out .
They can then look over it very closely and see if there was some sort of mistake when making it. If cables are cut and crimped the same then frame could be racked or out of square making it appear a cable is short?
I used to have a stand like that and every time I stepped into it I was so worried of a cable snapping. I stopped using that stand for that reason and started hunting the ground nearly 90% of the time.
I would just box it up send it back and if they don't want to send another out ask for a return of your money.
Not worth losing one's life or a limb for a stand that has you worried each time you enter it.
Even with a safety harness it's a scary feeling getting dumped out of a stand .

I am never in a stand and not protected!  They've been good!  they've paid for all shipping, sent extras, etc.  I have no complaints on that part.  I'm just stuck on getting this model for the sake of having the ability to level the platform, etc.
