What grain per pound range do you like to be in for whitetails and similar sized game

That's a tough one. It depends on the bow. I like an arrow around 500 grains. When I shoot my 600 pound bow I got an arrow that weighs 490. It tunes and shoots well for me and puts me right at 8 grains per pound. On my 52 pound long bow and recurve I got an arrow to tune with 200 grains up front. For an arrow that weighs 530. That puts me at just over 10 grains per pound. Any where in that range will get it done. I prefer between 8 and 10 grains per pound.

I like  10-12 for a quieter shot, lighter would be fine for deer tho.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Don't know cause I haven't connected. Shooting around 11gpp right now, hopefully I'll find out how well it works for me this year.

I like 11. With all the different components now available one can choose wisely and build to your liking for foc, length and weight.

I'm a 9-10 guy.  Closer to 9.  I like about a 460-490 grain arrow.

I guess I am too. My arrows are right at 475 grains and 9.4 gpp if I remember right. But that's just how they came out after getting my bow tuned. They shoot great so I'm happy with them for the animals I hunt. I didn't put in any thought to weight though, other than making sure they'd be heavy enough not to damage my bow.

9-10 for me. I like a flatter flying arrow. Not to much into all the heavy FOC stuff. I only hunt whitetails.

Stalking and Still Hunting in the cover makes for close shots and a quiet bow is important... My arrows are 12 plus grains per pound of bow weight...

For me somewhere around 10 gpp gives me a quiet and relatively flat shooting combo. My current set up is right at 500 grains with a 50 lb @ 28" draw.

I target 11 1/2 to 1 for a finished arrow. All of mine are very close to that.

Based upon the poll results, I seem to be an oddity. I'm at a hair over 14 GPP. 850 gr arrows out of 58# bows. Shot these for years and don't plan on switching.

Like others I shoot 10-11 gpp to keep the bow quiet and ample penetration.
