A few good vendors....as always use a TG sponsor if possible and they have what you want or need.
I have bought good woodies from Alleghany Mtn Arrow Woods in the past....also Twig Archery as well.
Lately I have been buying all of my Douglas Fir shafts from Surewood Shafts. Great quality, timely shipping, and reassuring customer service and communication during purchases.
I would have to recommend Surewood Shafts....if unsure then give them a call.
As for wood types...as mentioned I have settled on Douglas Fir for the past decade or more....but have really liked Chundoo (lodgepole pine) and Sitka Spruce. All three I felt gave me a good mix of weight, durability, straightness, etc....
If going Douglas Fir I would say Surewoosd Shafts....if going Chundoo I would say Twig Archery.
I have heard good things about Poplar as well but never tried it. I have used hickory, maple, ash.....durable, very heavy but harder to keep straight for me.
