Squeaky glove?
« on: July 01, 2017, 05:07:00 PM »
So I got a new Damascus glove, and I've been using it about a week or so. I really like the way it feels. Thing is, it's creaks when I get close to full draw, and it's fairly loud. At least it sounds loud to me. I think it would maybe be loud enough to spook a deer or at least get it's attention. Is this normal with new Damascus gloves? And will it eventually stop when it gets a little more use on it?

Is it making the noise where the arrow nock and glove make contact? If so try using string wax on the fingers of the glove or put some powder from a puffer bottle on the fingers of the glove.

I had a bunch of those gloves years back. Can not recall noise just did not last long. I use Mink oil on my glove, it keeps it soft and protects it from my sweaty hands.

I make my own and they creak, but I do like M60gunner and use lots of mink oil. It quiets it down and prolongs the life of the leather imo.

I use Montana pitch Blend on my Damascus glove.

Got a new glove about six months ago and it still squeaks, its not real leather like the older ones use to be, I was really disappointed because if this is what the new ones will be like I'm never buying another Damascus, its the only glove I've used for 20+ years.

I put a little chap stick on my glove when it starts creaking.

Put a little cornstarch on it.  That is what I also use in my windy indicator bottle, but works equal well to eliminate leather squeaks.

You can also use paraffin wax. Rub it all over the tips and heat it over a stove just enough  to let the wax melt in. You can do it several times so the leather is saturated. That's what I used to do before Montana Pitch Blend came onto the scene.

I've used a Damascus glove since I started shooting trad but the last one I bought was barely half the glove as any before. Very thin leather and finger stalls. I'm very disappointed with them anymore...but they didn't take the squeaks out.
