GT SS half out tip
« on: July 07, 2017, 03:41:00 PM »
Just a tip to ensure your broadhead screws into these arrow components BEFORE you glue them into your arrow.  They come standard with the GT traditional classic arrows and I luckily pre checked them before gluing on the first dozen arrows I bought.  Good thing, becuase two of them cross threaded my field points.  lancaster archery rushed me a pack of five out and good thing again.  i just ordered a half dozen 11.3 gpi arrows to build for a moose hunt and 1 of six halfouts was bad.

I wasn't familiar with the "halfout" nomenclature you're using, so I looked on the Lancaster website and found the GT trad classic shafts, and two items that are new to me:  an accutough insert and a ballistic collar.  Is this what you're talking about?  The accutough insert seems to be part insert, part outsert?  Are these new, and are they replacing the old glue in inserts we have been used to?  It really didn't describe the advantages of these things over the old insert.  Do you have any info on this?

That is correct, the Accutough insert is half insert and half outsert and weighs 75 grains.  Not sure how new they are as I just returned to traditional archery this last spring after 30 years so have only been building arrows for the wheelie bow.  When I talked to Lancaster, they mentioned that they come standard with the GT classic trads, so not sure if you can still get the old ones.
