Need a 250 grain broadhead

I am currently looking at the VPA 250 grain 3 blade. I have been seeing a lot of shooters shooting 2 blade single bevel broadheads. Could someone enlighten me to the advantages of using one over the other?

Easier penetration theoretically with a two blade versus three. Two blade are generally easier to sharpen for sharpening challenged people. Two blade single bevel rotate through the animal, which creates a twisting action through bone that will split the bone easing further penetration.  If you're just hunting deer, pick what you want, any bigger or tougher animal, two blade prevail in my opinion.

Both are correct.

Some,if not most..shooters believe that a narrow single bevel will penetrate deeper than other designs...especially through heavy bone.

That being said...if you're shooting somewhat normal draw weight and draw length at deer sized game and smaller (and even bigger if you're not shooting a really low draw weight) there isn't a real NEED to go with the narrower head.

Bigger blades mean bigger holes...may as well make a big hole.

The VPA 3 blade is an awesome head.

I actually find 3 blades the easiest to sharpen..lol

I absolutely love the VPA 3 Blade Heads. I shoot the 250 Grain 1-1/4" diameter cut 3-Blade Screw in. Great performance out of 53lb Black Widow KB, 27-5/8" draw length, Iowa Whitetails & Turkeys. Had good luck as well with Abowyer Boneheads 1-1/4" Single bevel 2-Blade with inserts to total 270 grain. My arrows weigh around 605 grains total presently...

If you can get the 3 blade sharp and are not having penetration issues then go with it.

I have not put a single bevel thru enough critters to form an opinion but the vpa has done well for me.

It's hard to beat those VPA's! Both are really nice and you'll get slightly better penetration with a two blade single bevel but more consistently good blood trails with a three blade.

I am shooting 53# @28" Easton Axis 350's. My bow is tuned with 250 grain heads and a 75grain brass insert.

What type of critters you going for?
You're shooting way more than enough to use the VPA on deer.
Maybe on larger game...but I have no experience there....but I'd bet you'd be fine except on maybe the largest of game.
