Bitzenburger Dial-O-Fletch?

Does anyone know if the nock indexer on the Bitzenbugers are specific to which wing clamp is being used?? And if so how do you tell which indexer you have--mine has no markings on it that I can see? I have one that I bought used and it seems to put the cock feather too far counterclockwise looking from the nock end of the arrow--Like at about the 8 o'clock position instead of 9 o'clock like my JoJan does?

Same nock receiver for both wing sides.

The backside (with plate for magnet) will say on the bottom edge "LEFT" or "RIGHT".

There are two knobs, front and back, (with HEX socket lock screws) that you can use to adjust how the clamp lays along the shaft; but there isn't much adjustment that will change where it ends up in relation to the nock jaws.

Only time I changed the nock receiver was when Blitz made an upgrade to accommodate fletching vanes for C bows. That’s about 45 years ago now.

On a Bitzenburger, the indexers have three possible positions, which you select by tightening and loosening the allen set screws mentioned above.  I don't know if the left wing indexers are different from the right wing ones, since I only use left wing, but I do know that there are many different indexers available, of which I have a few.  There are also indexers with blank rows that haven't been drilled, that you can drill to suit your own preference.  It is very easy to lose the tiny springs and ball bearings in the indexer holes, so be warned.

I believe the only difference between L and R indexers is the position of the nock relative to the fletching (on the spiral axis).

Should only be an issue with glued on or self nocks; press in nocks can be rotated for fleching clearance after feathers are attached.

I use the L indexer that came with my used Bitz and RW feathers, no worries.

OK I should have done this before asking the question but sometimes I'm slow...
I went to the Bitzenburger site and found this:

Indexed at 120 degrees, 90 degrees and 75 degrees x 105 degrees

Cat #3002 Right Nock Receiver

Recommended use: Right Wing Clamp

Cat #3004 Left Nock Receiver
Indexed at 120 degrees, 90 degrees and 75 degrees x 105 degrees
Recommended use: Left Wing Clamp

So----It looks like they do have specific "Nock Receivers" depending on which wing clamp...
It looks like they also sell some "optional" receivers by themselves for putting the cock feather up or down.

Do ya'll end up with your cock feather pretty close to the 9 o'clock position?

I do 3" four fletch set at 90 degrees, RW feathers, L indexer (X on the string).  I need to rotate my press in nocks a few degrees for optimal clearance.

IIRC, when I did 3 fletch the L indexer and LW feathers ended up very close to cock at 9 o'clock.  I still rotated the nock a few degrees because with 3 fletch I always had the cock a few degrees up (clockwise) from 9 o'clock for optimum fletching clearance.  I am right-handed.

I just looked, my two jigs and nock receivers are so old there’s no model # on them. Being that I am getting ready to Fletch right helical I think I may get the “right” nock receiver. I have ordered from their website in the past. They replaced the “springs” on my three clamps. I paid for the parts and shipping but not labor for the work.

They do make L and R indexers...however, I rarely change them out and can do L or RW feathers with either indexer.

In fact, that's the biggest beef I have with Bitzenberger...once you adjust the feather, the nock is not aligned.  I use sacrificial glue ons and replace the nock once fetched.

Rick, my Bitz came with a nock receiver that wasn't oriented the way I
wanted; didn't know why until I called the comapany, and they told ne which one I need.
Got the one for trad bows, and it puts the cock feather between 8 and 9 o'clock... even with the top of the rest.

I use all left nock receivers, all are stamped with an L.

I made this lazy Susan fletching table for my jigs, most of which I bought used off fleabay.

Short answer; yes.
The instructions that came with my Right wing Bitz specifically mention if you want to order a L wing clamp, to also order the L wing indexer.
