Saddle soap and a good rub down of Montana pitch blend or Mink Oil or other good leather treatment.
You may not get all traces of the mold off but the above should help. You might also try a light Clorox and warm water rubdown to kill the mold, first.

I've had some boots get mold on the leather after a water leak in my basement.  Don't know if it's the best way or not, but I simply cleaned it off with a damp washcloth, then used some scotch pads to buff it all off.  I then conditioned the leather again and it has held up and seems to be good as new.

Make a solution of Chlorox and water - a capfull of Chlorox and a quart of water.  Wipe it down inside and outside and let it dry well for a couple days.

Then rub well with Montana Pitch Blend.  Maybe two applications if it needs it.

I have used this on leather for decades and it keeps and maintains it very, very well.

If the stuff you describe is the white coating that’s pretty normal for leather left untended. Even here in our dry climate. If it’s greenish in color that’s more and likely mold. I would go with stumpkillers suggestion using the bleach. Mold is not something you want any signs of being left. Either way get the Pitch Blend stuff, works great.

Wipe off all that you can, let it dry, then use the cleaners ( saddle soap, pitch blend, clorox, etc)

Good luck,

I too have used a mild bleach solution and air drying for ridding leather of mold. Then use the leather dressing of your choice.
