Timberpoint Icarus/ New Bow/ Special one...
« on: January 19, 2018, 11:31:00 PM »
Wanted to share my thoughts on my new Timberpoint Icarus L/b...

In 2016 I got a Kraken bow from Jaco... It was unreal for a D shape bow..  But I didn't need a 68" or 70" bow at that time...

I spoke with Jaco and pitched my thoughts to him about the likes of the Kraken and the possibility of making a 64" hunting bow with similar characteristics but with Reflex Deflex Limbs and a few other things....

After several months of R.D. he got back with me and said he had perfected the design.

Long story short this bow is really special.. partly because I had a small, really small, part in its inception, and mostly because it shoots better than any other bow I've ever picked up..

When unpacking the bow ( it is a two pc. take down) I picked up one half of the bow and it felt like a black widow recurve as per mass weight...  When I put it together and bolted it down (very unique take down system for a two pc. takedown ) it felt very well balanced..

I strung it up and shot it...  Really Really smooth.  It is quieter than most of my other l/b's and as fast as any I've had.. At least to the eye.. No chrono.... I was expecting a loud, or at least louder bow, due to the carbon in the limbs, but the noise wasn't present!!!!

He used a good bit of the Dark Timber in the riser and it really paid off..  The bow is so stable on the shot.. I just can't hardly believe it..  It is the most stable bow I've ever had, recurve or l/b.

I know I'm on the honeymoon with it, but I can normally tell if a bow is going to be good mannered within a few shots..   I've had a few bows that I can just pick up and start shooting perfectly right away, but most require some tinkering with grip, adjustments here and there etc..

This bow was spot on right away..   53 lbs. @ 30. .400 Axis with 175 tip bare shafts and flys perfect.

The grip is amazing..  Can't hold it wrong I don't believe..  I don't see how you could..  That is the best part of Jaco's bows.. The grips cause perfect hand position.  The Kraken was the same...

It has so much Dark Timber in the riser that upon release it remains locked onto target...  Zero shock either...

Several longbows have such a small mass weight they torque or move upon release..  The Icarus is a tank... Dead upon release...

I really like it and Jaco did a great job on it..

Wanted to share my thoughts for you guys who love longbows and want one of the Best....

I'll send pics to someone if you want to post them others to see...

Blessings

Steve

Steve, Send me a couple of pics and I’ll post them for you. Fred

What’s the total weight of the bow? I love higher mass bows.
God Bless

Good looker for sure.  Nice R/D line. I've seen that type of TD system on a few other bows.  Thunderhorn, for example, and a few others that I can't remember right now.  Very solid. Enjoy

Wow! That's a beauty. I've heard nothing but praise for his bows.

Looks good and solid. The grip is lower than others I have seen on Timberpoint bows.Which looks comfortable.Good luck with it.
