best night ever last night even though i came home empty handed. i hunt a very tiny peice of land(5 acres to be exact) and as most of you know, hunting land is extremly hard to come by for the average joe, so just a deer sighting makes a hunt successful to me. was sitting 20 yards from a ditch that seperates my property from the neighbors and it sounded like a bulldozer comin through the woods on their side. the crashing continued and i finally sighted a little doe and thought she could not be making all that noise. sure enough i heard a long deep trailing grunt, which was cool because it was the first time i had heard a buck grunt! then i heard a, get this, snort wheeze several and a 130 class 8 point comes busting through the brush, dogging the doe like crazy! he chased the doe off, making more noise than i thought possible and 3 minutes later, another smaller 8 point comes in hot persuit after them! half hour later a 4 point finds the same hot doe scent and then starts destroying a locust tree, beating the life out of it! talk about destroyed nerves on my part! he then goes after the others followed by a spike! even thought they were all on the other property, it encouraged me to have been so close to my first trad kill. due to the small property, this is more bucks than i usually see all season seen all in one night! going out to night and lay down an estrus trail from the ditch to under my stand and hopefully get one to come by. good luck and have a great season to ALL!
