Has anyone ever tried contact cement for inserts on carbon arrows?

No I haven't, but this is the best I've ever used.

Big Jim’s Quik Stick hot melt is the cats meow for inserts. Plus, you can easily get the insert out any time you need to. I have not tried contact cement, but don’t think you would be able to slide the insert all the way in before it bonded together. For everything I have put together with contact cement, as soon as the two pieces touch each other, they are stuck for good!

2x on the 30-06 Insertweld. Basically a rubberized instant glue that absorbs shock. Better than epoxy in my experience.

Ferr-L-Tite low temp, blue stick.  Easy to use and  holds really well.  I never had an insert pull out and unlike super glues, it does not come loose after sharp impacts.

I am not a fan of the permanent glues as I hate to waste an arrow if I need to cut the arrow turn the insert or remove it due to damage.

If you coated both surfaces with contact cement, you would never get the insert in

What is the approx working time for Big Jims?  My weighted inserts are a bit over 3 inches long.  Concerned that glue may start to "set up" before I get them fully seated.

Heat the insert, then apply melted glue and insert.You will have plenty of time to seat and position insert for a true spin. Remember a good prep of surfaces helps adhesion.

I have not timed it, but you will have plenty of time to get your inserts seated! I also index all my broadheads so that they are all in the same plane when I draw my bow back. Super easy to do if Big Jims glue is what is holding the insert in. Just 2 seconds of heat, turn to desired position, and let dry again.
