Does this sound right? (Horne brush bow)
« on: November 11, 2007, 08:42:00 PM »
I recently got my hands on a 56lb @ 28" 60" Hornes brush bow. I set it up shooting a 525 grain gold tip traditional arrow. It was consistantly shooting 180fps throught the crono. In my book that pretty fast. Does that sound right?? I was thinking something may be wrong with the crono. Anybody with a Horne have any info on how fast they are? This bow shoots real good which is all I really care about anyway. I would still like to here any comments you guys would have.

Sounds about right. The Brush bows are good shooters.

Last year's Miss Hope spit an arrow out pretty well.

Sounds right. You didnt mention your draw length, an inch more (or less) will make about 8-10 fps difference. I used to think my chrono was inconsistent till I started filming the shots, focusing on the draw length at release, turned out the inconsistency was somewhere else. Me.

Steve, where did your brace height end up? Are you shooting carbons? I think I am a little bit overspined. I am going to add some weight probably another 40 grains that would put me in the 585 grain range. Which would equate to about 10.4 grains per pound.

Hi Slayer, the brace on my bow is set a 7 7/8 that was where the bow was the quietest, i'am shooting the carbon express heritage 150 arrows, i'am using a beman insert which is 22 grains, a 125 grain magnus stinger broadhead and i also have 50 grains of weight screwed into the back of the insert, my arrows are 29 inches long, and i actually might add another 50 grains to the insert.
