S! All!

 Great site! As my co-worker pokes fun about us..Big limps and sharpened sticks.. "only"!
 My brief history: Started with a fiberglass bow and as I remember..never missed anything I aimed at. I eventually got hold of a real wooden bow and still never missed anything I remember aiming at. After returning from the Army I found they had invented the compound bow and there is where the troubles began. Now, at the tender age of 45, I find myself constantly trying to regain my self-proclaimed fame with the wooden bow and sharpened sticks..BUT..I suck.  More to follow...

  Thanks ahead~ Ned

I was shooting with my 9 year old son this weekend and noticed a huge different in how we look at our shooting.

Me: I've been shooting seriously for over 15 years and while shooting with him all I remember were my bad shots.

My son: He's been shooting for 15 minutes--in relative terms, as he's been shooting since he learned to walk--and afterwards all he can remember is the very remarkable shot when he hit the bullseye at 45 yards. He walked around the archery range like he owned the place. The fact that he hit the dirt many times was entirely lost on him.

I wonder if the same goes for you too: You are shooting well, but you no longer have the "child filter" that allows you to forgive yourself for the bad shots?

Above all, have fun with it.

Ned;

Are you making the same mistake many archers make when they switch from compound (back) to traditional, i.e. that because you pulled a 60+ lbs compound bow, you can automatically pull a 60+ lbs traditional bow? Many try it, but few are strong enough to actually do it.
