Help: Those clicker shooters
« on: August 24, 2007, 08:35:00 AM »
I am looking at purchasing a clicker, yes it has gotten that bad.  I want to get one and remove the chain and use string.  Which model do I need to get?  The crick it or clicktey clack?  three rivers sells both,  What do you guys use?

Onr vote for "crick-it".  I had put a piece of fish tubing over the bead chain.  Complete removal could be done too.

Best of luck.

One word of caution about using these things, as I experienced it myself and have seen it with others.  Intentionally make yourself "pause" (like count to two) when you hear the click.  Just letting it rip as soon as you hear a click results in bad things......

I've used booth. I removed the chain and replaced the chain and string with bowfinhing line.It takes a while to get used to it. I agree with "BobW". There is a tendency to jerk if you let go immediately on the click.

I use the Crick-It. The first thing I do is replace the chain with a short piece of 400# FF bowfishing line (maybe an inch long) with a knot tied in the end. I then attach a piece of FF bowstring serving to the fishing line via a slipknot, and then attach the other end to the bowstring. That way, I can "quick detach" the clicker if need be. I also wrap the spring steel in a few layers of electrical tape to muffle the sound a bit.

Some folks pause after the click, and I tried that too, but I found I shoot much better if I pulled/pushed through the clicker, not into[/i it, and let the click trigger my release. It took a lot of getting used to, but it was well worth the effort.
