Snuffers and the wind
« on: October 29, 2007, 10:02:00 PM »
Man, I was out shooting last week and it was a fairly breezy day. I would wait until the breeze died down before shooting, but my Snuffers were hitting 6-8" left nearly every time from 15-20 yards. I began questioning my arrow spine, form, and everything else, even though my broadhead arrows were hitting right with my field points in previous shooting sessions.

Sure enough, the next two days I shot with almost no wind and I was right back on. After that observation, I am extremely nervous to hunt in even the slightest breeze. Anyone else have this problem, and do two blade broadheads shoot alot better on a breezy day?

Doubtful the Snuffer had anything to do with that.  There's a lot more surface area on the shaft and feathers than there is the broadhead.

The most I have experienced in strong winds is the tendency for the arrow to kick a little before it straightens out.

I have to agree with Molson, something else is going on.  Maybe recheck you tune, or it could be you were looking.....

Yep, I concur with Moslon and Scott. I shoot Snuffers and don't have this happen because of them.  I'm a leftie and if I don't follow through properly or have my T out of alignment, I hit to the right iregardless of what I have on the pointy end of the arrow...

Hmmm. Well I've been shooting fine with the Snuffers ever since, so I guess I won't worry too much about the wind. It's just odd that I've noticed them planing more than once while it is breezy out.

Maybe your arrows are too light.  Some day try shooting heavy arrows and light arrows in a cross wind.  The difference is amazing.  Heavy arrows rule.
