Huge Revelation on my shooting accuracy!
« on: February 24, 2008, 01:41:00 PM »
I've been struggling and sweating trying to perfect my form, suffering the humiliation of watching every 4th arrow going whizzing by the whole target and into the woods.  It helped me a lot after a fellow TradGang guy let me borrow the video "Hitting them like Howard Hill" and I felt I had a good thing going, but still missing every couple.....

If you'll refer to my other post on "bent aluminum arrows" it became obvious...it wasn't ALL about my bad shooting form (though most of it is   ;)  ) its also that some of my arrows were bent and most importantly, I don't think my arrows were well matched to my bow.

I'm shooting a longbow 40# at 28" (though I'm drawing closer to 30") and using aluminum FallStalkers 1816.  I noticed that the arrow sounded like it was "buzzing" off the arrow rest sometimes (bent arrows?  underspined arrows?).  I chose 3 of my straightest arrows and can do pretty well, grouping them all in the circle out to 12yrds.

Now to learn how to match my arrows (I hope to go back to wood some day for hunting, but maybe carbon will do for my still learning stage).
