Help with equipment
« on: August 06, 2008, 10:32:00 PM »
ok guys, let me know if my current equipment selection works. I have a Samick hawkeye, 62" 55lb at 28".  my draw is 26" so I figure im pulling about 50lbs.  2018 arrows cut to 28" and 150gr WW screw in broadheads.  My arrows never seem to fly straight... is it my equipment?

Without being able to see you shoot...it could be your equipment or a combination of you and your equipment. I haven't memorized the spine charts to know how close 2018's are for your poundage and draw length.

Take the feathers off one and bareshaft test it into something soft that's a safe backstop.

The bareshaft will indicate how close your arrows are matched to your bow and/or what your next step needs to be to find a match.

Are those Legacy arrows by any chance?  I found the fletching on mine too straight to my liking.  Refletch one with a helical fletch, might help out a bit.

2018 is probably to stiff. You should be using 2016.

I dont have the ability to post video unfortunatly.  Its just when I release, the arrows seem to always wobble left and right in flight.  is this too stiff of spine like you thought terry?

for what its worth, I just tried switching to a tab, which helped a little.  I also tried taking a deeper hook on my fingers, and that seems to have helped also....

Skippy,

Check out this site. Many people refer to it for tunning and arrow selection. Even with 150 grain heads, I think your way to stiff.

Good luck!
