My cheap paper tuning set up
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:44:00 PM »
I was trying to figure out how to paper tune with a bare shaft without spending any money for paper or lumber to build a rack.

This is what I came up with and something along these lines might work for you too.

Basically I tied 2 cords across  my supports on my back stop.

I then used clothes pins to attach a page of newspaper for the target

The newspaper is about 16" in front of the hay bales and it worked pretty good for my purposes.

As long as the arrow as room to pass all the way thru, you'll be good to go. Newspaper never worked that great for me, it tears too much and it can be hard to tell what kind of tear you have. but I know its cheap...you could put your strings closer together and use notebook paper or copier paper....I used to use a step ladder as my paper tuning frame. turned sideways it worked pretty good and I didn't have to buy any thing...cheap is good!!

I made one pretty cheap out of 3/4 inch PCV pipe.  2' wide.  I have a 2'X 2' square at the top of the legs and use duct tape to put the freezer paper on.  the legs have a T at the bottom and a 18" piece of pipe going to front and back on ground.

I'm thinking I might use your idea and put wire near top and bottom so I can use those black paper clamps I have at the office.  Would be easier than the duct tape.
