Building up the rest???
« on: February 06, 2009, 02:05:00 AM »
I'm reading OL's tuning page concerning building up the rest so that the arrow contact point is directly above the grip low point.

My question is, how much radius is desirable to place on the new contact point?  Obviously flat, at one extreme, isn't going to do it, so how far does one go the other way?  Does one make the contact point as narrow as possible?

I've just ordered some calf hair rest material so that's what i'll be using when i do this, any tips on using this when building up the contact point, best material and glue to use under the calf hair, would be gratefully received.  The calf hair comes with adhesive backing.

Thanks for help as always.

Barge cement to glue it down, and you can add a small strip of rawhide at the contact point under it to raise it.
