Please help! Can't get the feel.

The Other day I asked about a LH shooting right and received a lot of good info, but I think I know why I do it and still need some help.
I’m gong to try to explain this as close as I can.

I have a Bear Montana LH. And at 15 yards I shoot 6” to the right and a group of 3-4” when I’m grouping. The Montana is not a center cut bow. So today when I was shooting with BigRonHuntAlot. (A great guy and Tx Ron.). I found out when I shoot that 6” to the right I hold the bow so that center of the bow and the string are lined up with my target. I do this by feel. If I sight down the arrow with the bow drawn it is pointing around that 6” to the right.

Now the problem is, I have to sight the arrow to the center of the target to make the arrow go center. I really don’t like this because it makes me feel as if I am pointing left with the bow and the feel is not there. It makes me have to spend more time sighting the arrow at the target then concentrating on the target.

If I rotate the bow so that the top limb is round 10 o’clock it will center my shot to where I aim more.

Is normal?  
Do I need a center shot bow?

First question, are you left eye dominate. If yes, find what puts you on left and right. If you shoot enough, your brain should start making the adjustment naturally. That's all I got. Maybe someone else can help you. Could also be arrow stiffness.

Yes I am Left eye dominate.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you totally correctly, but my first thought is that you may be right eye dominant and you're subconsciously aiming the bow where your dominant eye is looking. I say this because you mention that when you DO sight down the arrow, it's 6" off to the right of where you "feel" it should be. Like when you test eye dominance by looking through your hands at an object and when you close your dominant eye your hands appear to "jump" over to that side. I'm not sure what to suggest, as I shoot right handed and am right eye dominant (though I write and do a few other things left handed), other than to double check your eye dominance.

Is this a too much spine problem?  I'm still learning a lot here, so forgive me if i'm barking up the wrong tree, but from what i've read so far isn't the arrow spine supposed to take the arrow around the bow to where the bow is pointing and not send the arrow where the arrow is pointing?

I found with too weak spine that arrows would go right from my right hand bow even though the arrows point left and the bow points straight - kind of the opposite problem.

Are you shooting with both eyes open.If you are try closeing your one eye or try a patch.Seems your cross eye dominant.
    But seems to me it might be a spine problem.Your BEARS not center shot.Yes the more center shot your bow the better all around you will be.When it comes to spine center shots the way to go.After that just let your hand eye do the rest.

Whump Sez: Well---a few questions---when you cant the bow and the arrow centers itself is it hitting high but center? The reason I ask is because a stiff spined arrow will change its point of impact from hitting right to hitting center and high as you roll the bow into a cant. If this is happening you are shooting an arrow that is most likely too stiff for your shooting style. Question #2---have you tried shooting with a grip that is not so tight? The more reflex deflex a long bow has the less you can choke the grip---it will throw the shot off to the "right" for a left handed shooter and to the "left" for a right handed shooter. Take it from a LH'er that as a kid shot a RH bow because well meaning adults didn't know better, just switch to shooting a LH bow ASAP.  You'll save yourself a ton of frustration...

My son is right handed/left eye dominant.  We switched him to LH shooting as soon as it was apparent, when he was 5. Took about a month for him to get the hang, and he never looked back. He's 30 now and a great LH shot with bow or firearm...

According to Rick Welch, there are two relatively simple ways to move your arrows from one side to center - either cant the bow, which seems to be working for you, or get a lighter spined arrow.  For a LH shooter, shooting to the right can be caused by a too stiff arrow or by the fact that with the bow vertical you're hitting where you're aiming, just not where you think you're looking 'cause the riser is cutting off more of your sight picture than you realize.
