Tuning a trad bow - Videos
« on: February 14, 2009, 01:08:00 PM »
You know what I would like to see is a video of OL's planing method of tuning.

Then one where the bow is tuned using the bullet hole method.

Then one tuning the bow to the arrow.

I learn way better with videos.

They could take a bow and some arrows they think will work for that bow.

Walk us through there methods to explain why they are doing what they are doing.

If they got together and put it video for sale or on youtube to help us all that would be a great learning tool.

Just my thoughts

Get "Masters of the Barebow Vol. 2" it's all on there.

Great video, as is Vol. 1.

I have one but not two. Does it actually go into the tuning. I was pretty disappointed with Rich welchs volume one that I thought was going to explain the method he uses (hunting was good), so then I got volume two and still not much there either...well not much detail.

There's a section on planing method, also one on paper tuning.  They adjust the arrows and adjust the bow.  I'm fairly new to all this arrow stuff and only watched the DVD a couple days ago but it made sense and i think it's a great accompaniment to O.L.'s page.  I'm now making some new arrows ready for tuning them and the bow and feel a lot more confident about the process after watching the DVD.

I also found both Barebow DVD's to be a great insight into the many different approaches to shooting trad bows, there's a lot of info in there.
