Joebuck/ that koolaid is getting $$$$$$$$$
« on: March 17, 2009, 07:55:00 PM »
Ive been a rick welch fan for a long time. got 4 of his bows and all the videos. reading your post I got to thinking(which my wife says is not good) and I alway used the feather to the nose, but I don't think i was getting good back tension. last night I refletched a few arrows (after trial and error) with the feathers 2 and 5/8 in front of the throat of the nock. I have mixed emotions on the results this afternoon. left to right are grizzly stick, cx 150 and easton lightspeed 500. shot from 3 differant bows all at 20 yds. I may fill my hottub with koolaid. Don

Batman.........ummmmmmmmmmmm.....save your Koolaid..I need a swig!....So in short your pulling your bow back more? I'm shooting 4 fletch 4" (90 degree).. tip of my nose to end of my 4" is 1 3/4"...so your another 7/8" longer in face or shorter in nose than me....I have been a pauser for 25 years. I hold and hold and hold..My biggest area of issue like you back tension..holding that feather on my nose.. I'm shooting 650 grains at 60lbs......man ol man ,it fun all over shooting again.........#1 reason i went to this system is becasue it's so similiar to shooting a shotgun.. Split finger now is like shooting a shotgun off the hip!!
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

Joebuck, I no what you mean. It's wierd aint it? I started trying this stuff out on a 42lb bow. When I get to anchor#1(thumb knuckle well into ear lobe) I get my bow arm still and focus on spot and then keep pulling steady(not really pulling but expanding the draw with my shoulders) till the feather touches my nose and the shot just goes off kinda automatic. Ive tried it out on my other bows (from 47 to 61lbs )and it seems to work there as well. It's kinda fun. DB

I have been shooting off and on tonight in the dark with light on the deer target from 15-28 yards.....working on my spontanous release!....It all came together for me ,Batman, is when I stripped my arrow and shelf/side plate and bareshaft MICRO tuned my bow. I shot dozens of arrows through paper and the whole 9 yards..I'm shooting bullet holes now through paper at 6 yards with Grizzly stick Alaskans....I never thought my arrow had a kick to it from shooting split fingers but now that my arrow is closer under my eye...i saw some room for tuning.....it made a ton of difference.
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

While it's often true that thinking can only hurt the ballclub, if you start thinking about bottling that Kool-aid, sign me up for a couple of cases.  That's some fine, if expensive, shooting.

Joebuck, I know what you mean about having a well tuned bow. It makes for more accurate shot placement. I use the paper method and sometimes will bareshaft too. DB
