Newbie help needed

Hi all, I am shooting my new recurve in my garage at 9 yards.  All of my arrows are grouping consistently to the left of my target approximateley 3-4".  I shoot with both eyes open.  That's how I shot compound bows and liked to have both eyes open.  I am wondering if there may be something I'm doing that would cause this.
I'm grouping really well, but all are to the left.  I've tried cock feather in/out but that doesn't seem to work. It is still impacting left.
I shoot a one piece recurve, 50# @ 28".  My draw is 26 and 1/2".  I am pretty sure my arrows are spined right, I'm shooting carbon arrows off the shelf.  
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated !

Oh, these field tip arrows are offset fletched and not helical, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference with field tips ?

Try building your side plate out about an 1/8". I use a strip of self adhesive leather and cover it with my regular side plate. This is a must for me since my bow is cut passed center.

Scott,  Let's start with the basics.  I presume you're right handed and shooting fingers?  The first thing I would look at is where your anchor point(s) are on your face and that the arrow is directly under your eye.  Both eyes open is GOOD!  Hopefully you have your dominate eye closest to the string and directly over the arrow.  Sometimes, if you are right handed and left eye dominate, that will lead to the left impacts you describe.  Again, assuming right handed wear some glasses and put some scotch tape on the left lens, shoot and see what happens.

If you have an archery club near you have one of their instructors watch you shoot.  That would be better than a written coaching session.  Although there are some pretty good folks here for advice.

I am right handed and using fingers.
I shoot 3 under.  My recurve is center cut.
I think I am not pulling straight thru my release and following thru like I should be.
I am going to keep at it.
I have Masters of the Barebow 1,2 and 3.
I am going to watch them again.

I'll try closing the left eye.  I am right eye dominant though, so I wouldn't think that would make a difference, but I'll give it a shot.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, Scott, but if a bow is cut passed center would a stiff arrow still cause the arrow to fly left (for a right-handed shooter)?

I wont matter if the bow is cut past center or not a stiff arrow still acts the same.

How are your nocks fitting? If it is too tight it may give you a problem.

Check the alignment of the arrow ( especially the rear of the arrow ) under your eye when I started shooting 3 under I really had a left impact problem . Most of the problem was because I have a round shaped face. I was trying to duplicate Rick Welch's anchor position and it was bringing the rear of the arrow out and around my cheek, so the rear was not under the pupil of my eye. I went back to anchoring with my middle finger at the corner of my mouth, but kept the cock feather touching my nose. That along with really paying attention to how the arrow aligned as I came to anchor solved my left impact problem completely. It may not be your problem but it's worth a look....

Your arrows may be too stiff.  -- If they are spined for 50# at 28" and you pull 26  arrow spined for 45# or less will likely fly better-- Sometimes FF string will solve the prob   -- but I think lighter spined shafts is likely to be the solution--- the other thing you need to figure out is if you are torquing the bow in the manner you are gripping it-- if this is the case-- all you need to do is grip diff. or change the grip shape.  All said, I think lighter spine is the way to go, and helical fletch is always a good idea. IMO

I have figured out my problem, it was too stiff of a spine.  I am putting 100 gr. brass inserts in my carbons now and they are hitting where I'm looking, couldn't be happier!
