Feel a little dumb
« on: March 01, 2010, 07:11:00 PM »
Finished some painting at 4:30PM, strung the '64 Kodiak and headed out for a little shooting before the paper comes.  I'm spraying shots all over from 10-20 yards.  Bad arrow flight, arrows leaping 1' high and 1' left, good arrows, you name it.  I figured I'm not coming to a full draw and pulled more.  It got worse and the bow was making a dull thud sound occaisionally.

Gave up and walked down for the mail and felt my left shirt pocket.  My reading glasses and case were under my coat causing the string to catch it on most shots creating the wacky shots.  Duhhh.

Took it out and the next four were right in there and flying straight.  So boys and girls, clear out your shirt pockets when you go shooting.

:bigsmyl:        I have mine on right now so that I can see the screen.

I would add, in cool or down right cold weather, make sure the bow arm sleeve is tucked up tight also.  It can cause the same kind of problems.  I might know about that.

Damn glasses, went out on the a date Friday and left my glasses at home. I had to have my date read me the menu, boy that's impressive. If it would of been an Italian restaurant I could of ordered spaggetti or lasagna but it was a place that you didn't have a clue what it was unless you read the description of what it was. I did get another date though.- Steve

could have been worse, it could have been your cell phone and the string catch it and sling it downrange.

In any cool weather I have gone to a zip vest with no pockets, or buttons.  Helps eliminate a lot of catching on shirt stuff.  I have on long sleeve hunting shirt with the pocket flap duct taped down.  That works also, but not as stylish as the vest.

One of my older brothers  went out with his bow to shoot at the neighbors cat.  He forgot to take his pipe out of his mouth. His pipe and upper plate of false teeth came closer to hitting the cat than his arrow.  I don't believe in shooting the neighbors pets for any reason, so I think he deserved what he had coming to him.

Now that is funny.  Went rovin' yesterday in the 60 degree weather AND remembered to put the specs in a right side pocket.  All arrows flew true to the mark.  Life if good.  My confidence was severly shaken in my shooting the other day though.
