bow arm shoulder and how many arrows
« on: May 14, 2010, 03:35:00 PM »
My name is Greg, not Larry, I am getting shooting lessons at Larry's place. I don't have internet so he let me use his computer. He left for some Tulip Festival thing. I had trouble with inconsistent arrow flight. I ran into Larry out turkey hunting and got the invite.  I heard over and over, "don't let your bow arm shoulder collapse like that."
He wanted to see a gap between my neck and my shoulder. Somehow that made my arrows fly right on target.
the other one was "it is straight grip long bow, let your arm bend a little."  This went on for hours.  He shot left handed bows and right handed bows, all heavier than mine.  We finally got what my most stable draw length was,27&14".  Then after all this he said "you want to shoot a really nice bow, now that your form has come together?"  He took out two American longbows both were 64 at 26". he pulled them both at the same time several times with each hand then gave one to me to try. I was so exhausted I could not shoot any more, I could not even draw it back.  then he said "Jezz we haven't shot 400 arrows yet, you got to get in shape."  How does someone 30 years older and smaller than me get so strong?

thats a funny question with endless possible answers. just keep pulling the bow back using your back muscles as much as possible train your body at least three days a week at first . most importantly dont hert yrself.take long breaks between sets and streech out before and after. ice if you hertand eat well.
form is everything! shoot well shoot hard.
