Release aid
« on: July 11, 2010, 08:04:00 PM »
Does anyone have any information on a "strap" type release aid? I'm thinking of a non-mechanical release aid. I seem to recall something on the market years ago that was a thin piece of leather or other material that was hand held and would go around the bow string. You would release one end of the strap to shoot the arrow.

Does this seem like a type of release aid that would give a clean enough release to the arrow? Any information or opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think you're talking about the Wilson strap.  I bought a new one on the auction place about two years ago, but sold it.

I shot them years ago, but it only works for a light weight outfit. You can't keep enough pressure with the thumb after about 35 to 40#'s. You might try a wrist stap caliper release.  They work well with recurves.

Contact "Mudd" here on tradgang. I believe he had pictures of the one your are looking for a few months ago.

I use a release due to bone spurs in my ring finger. Works very well shooting off a feather rest or a flipper.

PM me if you want to know more about shooting a release.
