3 Finger release and arrow flipping
« on: October 17, 2010, 07:04:00 PM »
Trying 3 under and noticing the arrows flipping the fletching to the left. I shoot right handed. Is this a release issue or spine change? How should the string feel on the fingers with 3 under? Thsnk you

Going to three under shouldn't change the spine requirement of the arrows unless it is causing you to pull a shorter draw than before.  Get a friend to mark an arrow at the front of the riser when drawing both ways.  I usually had to raise the nocking point a little when setting up to shoot three under.  You might try that.

Thats the question I was basically asking.  If its not the spine, it must be getting used to a new release. I there a difference in a 3 under release?  Thank you.

If you mean, is the '3 under' release executed differently than a 'split finger' release. the answer is no.

What could change is the pressure applied to the string by the individual fingers, now that the index finger is no longer isolated above the nock. As you're probably aware, a change in the pressure of individual fingers can cause differences in arrow flight and impact point. That's one of the little challenges that keep trad archery so interesting! IMHO.   :notworthy:

Are you 'curling' your fingers as you draw the string????

Try moving your nock-point also. You may need to raise it a bit.

You may need to change the nocking point to get correct arow flight.
