Cheap micro tune
« on: October 22, 2010, 10:49:00 PM »
I noticed my arrows were fish tailing a bit and wanted to improve the flight. I've been using Stu's electronic tuner with some success so I went back to it and noticed me arrows needed a few extra grains on the front end to make them a little less stiff. What to do.

So I took a field point down to the local hardware store and started going through the bins containing lock washers. I found one that fit the head nearly perfectly (3/32"??, 5/32"??)so I bought a handfull and headed home. Turns out they weigh very close to 5 grains so I added 2 of the tiny washers. It made a real difference. And the beauty of it is that they lock the head in place.

If you need a bit of fine tuning to make your shafts a bit less stiff give it a try. My bill was 12 cents.

Thanks, JW.

That's certainly 'mo cheapah' than $0.50+ each for a 10gn screw in wt for the inserts!   :clapper:

That's pretty neat, and I like the idea that it also locks the tip on!
