I've been looking into trying one and made one out of leather after the photo of one I saw on the extremely Big auction y site. Still need to trim it a bit and try it out, but still fixing my car port roof.

Still debating cutting up an old billiard ball I have.

Make one out of cow horn.  You can cut the tip to almost a fit, then rasp and sand from there.
no clue how to do this

Not to jump on the topic but would you need a left handed bow shooting right handed to use a thumb ring?

Sorry for my ignorance but the way it looks seems that way to me but I'm sure I'm wrong.

I tried to make one out of leather but...drawing 65# . Made it extremly difficult to draw the string. It was very painful. On to a new plan, if I only had a horn hanging around.

You're right.  Apparantly they shoot opposite riser to what we're used to.

I have found that most who shoot with a thumb ring will shoot with the arrow on the same side of the riser as the draw hand - (RH draw and the arrow is on the right of the riser).

I have been able to do some shooting with a thumb ring using a RH bow, drawing with a thumb ring on my right hand and shooting off the shelf on the left side of the riser. It is more sensitive to any twisting of the draw hand. But it can be done.

I use a thumb ring. I made mine out of PVC, the really thick walled stuff.  I am right handed and right eye dominate, so I shoot left handed.  I use a right handed bow.  The interesting thing about thumb rings is that the bow blocks the vision in one eye when you shoot.  If you shoot left handed, the bow will block the vision in your left eye.  I was able to get pretty decent accuracy pretty quick, my main problem was how weak my left side was compared to my right.  I have managed to work up to 40#, when I started 29# would kick my butt.  Bill
