Spine and tuning

I'm messin' around with head weight on some Sitka shafts I'm shooting. I have 2 arrows matched very close in all but head weight. I'm shooting one with 125 grain broadheads and one with 160 grain broadheads. The objective is to see if I can spot differences in flight characteristics. So far I can't see any. In fact one shaft is getting kinda battered with the other hitting very close to it.

The difference in head weight is 35 grains. I'm shooting between 15 and 25 yards.

How much difference if any should I be seeing???

Jock, it depends on your bow, degree of center cut, broadhead type, your shooting style, etc. I have no problem going from 125 to 160 most of the time, but some of my bows like a little stiffer arrow for the 160's. If I go to 190, a stiffer arrow is always necessary over the 125's.

I bare-shaft match with 125 field points (just because I have a bunch made up), then shoot my broadheads to see if I need to go higher in spine. If you can't see any difference between 125 and 160 in your broadhead arrows, don't worry about it.

I jhave run into this as well.  It seems that the carbons take much more differential than aluminums or wood.  I can bare shaft plane tune and just go by the point impact (they will lean) but when I bare shaft practice I see the spine differential immidiatly.
