Formaster
« on: June 19, 2011, 06:29:00 PM »
I'm really interested in the Formaster after going through MBB III.  I've seen the DIY plans but given the potential for me to screw it up and hurt myself or my bow I'll prob try to get the real deal.  It's kind of pricey so I'd like to get some feedback from you guys before taking the plunge.  Please let me know you thoughts and experiences.

Thanks

I've only seen but not shot the "store bought" model. The people I have talked to that have used it said the home made ones were better (some issue with a metal piece on the comercial one raking across the face). I made one and it works just fine.

Hey Bisch,

Which plans did you use?

I have the store-bought one.  I like it, but could have made one as good or better pretty easily.

If you buy one, be sure to order a size larger than what the size chart says you need.  I had to send my first one back for the next size up, it was really tight and uncomfortable.

I made two tonight. One for each of the exercises on Masters 3.  I had more than enough scrap materials around and didn't want to mess with adjusting the cord for both exercises.  I will fully admit I was a bit gun shy the first time I released. Was thinking that maybe I should video for the possibility of a Darwin Award nomination for myself and/or fleeting YouTube fame, but thankfully I must be using better back tension that I thought. I just cut and grometed straps and viola. Cant believe how helpful this site and trad bowhunters are!!
