A Milestone
« on: August 03, 2011, 06:35:00 PM »
I think I just graduated to the next level. In the past, I have practiced a lot, tweaked my bow and arrow very little, and it was always hard for me to say whether I just sucked, or something wasn't set up correctly.

After about a year of working on my form with the help of this forum, and tweaking my bow and arrow setup every which way, I now go outside to shoot, and if I don't hit where I'm looking, I know exactly why. I can tell in one shot if my brace height is too low, for example. If my rug rest or plate is too worn I can see it in my shooting. Little stuff I never was able to recognize before.

Where I once struggled to get any arrow tuned and  flying right, I now have a light arrow and a heavy arrow both flying like darts.

It's like waking up from the Matrix. And now that I see the light, I can see the next step clearly... I need more bows!!

My strategy is to do every possible wrong thing until there are none left but the right ones.

I'm at the previous level too. In fact, haven't ever "tuned" my bows. I gues I need to start playing with brace height etc.i have had a hard time understanding "brace height". I know it's the measure of the string from the back of the bow but it seems more about adjusting how "tought" the string is by unwinding or winding. I dunno, I am learning this sport all by my one so mentors and advise all come from this site. i need to spend more time reading here for a while.
