A pattern when I miss
« on: November 15, 2011, 12:15:00 AM »
Long story short, I suffered with TP really bad for a long time. After discovering the cause, I've really been working on my shooting and my form.

Over the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a pattern start to develop when I miss. First a little background info...

I'm a right handed shooter who shoots self bows that are pretty far from being center shot. That being said..

When I miss to the left the shot is usually also a little low. When I miss to the right, the shot is also usually a little high, sometimes way high. I miss high right more often than I miss low left.

Can anyone offer any insight to this pattern? Sometimes I tend to drop my arm a bit. I'm pretty sure this is what is causing me to miss low left ( at least I think so ). But when I miss high right I have no idea what is going on.

Opinions please. Thanks

For me, usually, a miss right means I’ve had a collapse or creep; missing left indicates a movement of the bow arm, and both get compounded with TP.

A low left miss for me results from a loss of back tension (collapse) every time. The misses from this can be relatively large. As JCJr says this results in bow arm movement.
For me a right miss usually results from a pluck where my string hand moves away from my face rather than straight back.
Proper back tension and a steady bow arm will cure a lot of ills.
