Rod Jenkins Clinic @ 2012 Ky Tradfest

Anyone wishing to participate in a bow shooting class taught by Rod Jenkins to be held in conjunction with the Ky Tradfest send me a pm.Cost would be $225 per person.An advance deposit of $100.00 would need to be paid approximately 1 month before class to hold your spot.Remaining balance of $125 to be paid the first day of class.Twelve people only.The Tradfest will be held on Friday March 30th,Saturday March 31st,and Sunday April 1st 2012 near Harrodsburg Ky at the Mercer County Fish and Game Club.The class will be held on the Saturday-Sunday dates (March 31st and April 1st) and will probably run from 9 am till 2 pm each day so that class participants can take part in other ongoing Tradfest activities.Rod gave this class last year and it filled up.Participants taking part in the class will be allowed to shoot the 3-D course for free.The host club is throwing this in for those paying to take the class.It is a $25 value.Signups are needed in order for this class to take place.

I thought I would post some additional information about Rods background on this thread.


Rod, besides being one of the main stars in the 4 Master of the Barebow series of archery instructional dvds is a 2 time IBO World Champion,7 time National Champion,and the winner of 42 state and regional championships. Along with numerous bow hunting success stories in 2011, Rod coached a IBO World Champion,a IBO National Champion,and the NFAA Indoor National Champion.In 2010 he coached the ASA World Champion.

Just a note to any of you that are on the fence about this class.........I took Rod's up here in Wisconsin last May and can tell you that even after 50 years of archery this class is the best money I ever spent to improve my shooting.  Rod's a good teacher and gives a good comprehensive class.

I'll be at your shoot and hope to meet a few of you.  I'm moving to the Louisville area this spring/summer and interested in meeting other trad guys.

Randy Grider and I also took Rods class last year.It will be good to meet you.We thought it would be good to bring Rod back again for those that might be interested.We still need a few more people to sign up for the class.Both Randy and I felt it was some of the best money we ever spent on archery.Rod stays busy running his business Safarituff and also traveling around the country conducting these classes.This would be a good opportunity for those seeking help with their shooting to get proper instruction from an expert.New shooters as well as old can learn from his advice and personal instruction.I wish I had access to his advice years ago.Anyone interested pm me as we still have spots open.

I just finished Rod's class up here in Alaska yesterday.  I guess the question on e should ask themself is "Do I want to shoot well?"

I assure you...you will feel its money well spent after the first day.  Rod will give you the tools and the drills as well as a training program to make any shooter a world class archer.  Invest in yourself.

Here's a couple pictures of the arrows. I just finished them last night. These go to one of the participants in Rod's class.


They're 55#-60# Tapered Shaft, Douglas Fir(Surewoods) arrows. I tapered them for points, at full length. Cresting is Burgundy, Gray, and White. Dipped bright White.

I want to thank Dave for putting this together and the KTBA for hosting such a nice event.  I also want to publicly curse Rod Jenkins for "ruining" nearly every arrow I own...just kidding.

But I really did have a 30" draw before Rod's class and my arrows were cut to 31".  During the class several folks noticed I was pulling to point up on the shelf.  Which means I can't use my dad-gummed arrows anymore...

Joe, those pics don't do your arrows justice and that was a very generous offer to donate them to the class.  My only regret is that rascal from Ohio that won your pretty arrows took them back up north of the Mason Dixon Line and no Kentucky deer will ever have the privilege of being skewered by one of your fine looking shafts.  If you do such a thing in the future you must include rules in the drawing that the arrows can't go to a dad-gummed yankee.  

It was fun to meet everyone and even though I'm sore and Rod Jenkins is the cause of it...  I'll be having nightmares for months of him asking that question:  "How many of you think you understand back tension..."    I'd laugh if it didn't hurt so bad to do it right now...

Lots of work ahead for us all...

Thanks Jeff for the comments about Rods class.I think everyone enjoyed it.I needed new arrows after I took the class last year.Lots of good information and practice drills to work on now.As Rod says "its simple but not easy" as it requires time and proper practice to incorporate it into the shot routine.I think all class participants have a better understanding of back tension after the class.
 Joe (jlnft) makes some great looking arrows.Very nice of him to donate those as a prize for one of the class participants.Joe took the class last year and wanted to give something back this year.Roger Whitaker from northern Ohio was the winner of the arrows given away in the class drawing.
 KTBA did a great job as well.
