Cock Feather In

What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of shooting Cock Feather in?  Fred Eichler does it on his videos.

Some feel it gives better feather clearance when shooting off the shelf but with a well tuned arrow it shouldn't matter. The feathers will miss the shelf due to paradox in either postition.

Shoot yours and see if it helps or hurts.

Thanks a bunch for your interest and input.  I'm new to not only Trad Archery, but to the forum.  I am an old seasoned Bulleye Pistol shooter, but new to Archery.  I introduced my 9yr and 6yr old Grandsons to Traditional Archery and now I'm hooked too! I'm reading all I can get my hands on and ordering and watching videos too....I know just enough to be "dangerous".  Again thanks!

Cock feather in may just be a preference. For a good number of years, I have shot with the cock feather just before 12 o'clock, which puts the inner hen feather in the gap between the strike plate and the shelf pad. (Right hand bow, right helical fletch) I have found better arrow flight and less feather wear indexed this way.

Thanks again reddogge and Old Vet.  So far, I seem to get better results with cock feather in.  It may be a case of: "If you think it helps....it does".
I haven't figured out how to delete my multiple entries....  but I also got some replies on one of the others....maybe they see....this guy really needs help! Thanks.
