As a kid I shot frogs with just a target arrow, and have done the same just several years ago. The best way is to get in the water and wade the pond, creek, or whatever you're hunting in. If you don't have a buddy holding the light then you need to learn to hold the light at the same time you're shooting. (That's the tricky part.) Once you've made the shot it's time to move quickly to the frog. Even though you have pinned him to the bank, he'll try to get off the nock end of the arrow.
It's great sport, and if you shoot at close range, it's an efficent way to frog hunt. I prefer it to using a rifle or frog gig.
