String hit's nose tip----->HELP

Hi Gang,

After 7 months practice, I finally reach a point in my shooting form that gives me accuracy and enough confidence to try and hunt big game within 15 yards.

The problem now is the string hit's my nose tip!

 

Also I have notice when I anchor and aim, my point of impact, at 15 yards, is like a finger to the right of where I'm looking. I'm leftie. How can I correct this? By bareshaft sly strait so I believe I'm well tuned.

Hi Diogo, glad to hear it is coming along well for you.

The "nose" problem is hard to diagnose without seeing.  Sometimes, a person overdraws( pulls back too far) which moves the string to the left ( left handed shooter).  This can cause the right issue and the nose problem.

A second area IF you are doing an "expansion" move in your shot many folks seem to allow their heads to be pulled around a little during the expansion which could also cause the problem.

Did you just add the video or did I miss it earlier?

Anyway, I see two things that MIGHT be causing the nose problem.

First, as you draw to anchor, you move your head back out of the way then as your hand reaches your references, you lay your head over and down to the string.  This is very slight but is enough to cause the string to hit the nose.  Try to place your head in position before you start your draw and then draw to YOU, DO NOT go to meet the string.

Second, you are shooting VERY fast (too quick of a release) and there is a collapse in your string side.  Watch carefully how your string hand moves forward then back.  It is kind of like you are "throwing" the string forward.  This part is most likely contributing to the right arrow hits at he target.

Hi Arne,

Glad you showed up.
So this should be a fine tuning form issue. I can shoot consistently with back tension already, witch is good. I still tend to release too quickly. The nose issue doesn't happen every time but it does happen, especially when shooting game. On the blind bale not that often!

I've notice I push my mouth corner back when I anchor. I think this happens because when my shoulders align, my mouth corner is in front of my fingers and I have to push it back. Maybe I end turning my head to look for the anchor point and end getting my nose beat up by the string. What do you think?
