The Down-Left Struggle

I often feel when i am not focused on securing the bow down-left my arrow goes up and off to the right from the natural release of tension in my body.

Is the down-left a common occurrence?

I have been doing this thing i call
  "highnock molar"
I nock 1" higher then my normal possition, and draw an extra 2" across my jaw and anchor on my last top molar.   This extra draw naturally causes me to fire the arrow a little more left and the high nock guides my arrow a little down.    
It's alot of fun , obviously not the real solution... but it does shoot dead on. Try it, let me know...

I think (if I understand what you are describing) That you are drawing too far back which naturally moves your string hand to the right along your face.

It is certain that moving your hand on your face will move the arrow impact point substantially (aiming method known as "face walking") but doing that without a basically correct form to start with will only increase the chances for a bad arrow or very inconsistent shots.

I have never heard the term "face walking" before.
Very cool.
I feel the form is there, i hold the bow the same way, i draw 27" to the corner of my mouth...  Then just a little extra sugar (about 2" to the molar). No drastic movements, and release. (this is all with a high nock setting).  
It is just for fun on the days that my regular form seems a little off, this technique ends in consistent bullseyes. I have even considered using it in tournament.      
(i even have a nock up there now).    
Maybe i should keep these secrets to myself     ;)    lol.

If you can pull an extra 2" then you are not using back tension properly. Full draw is full draw when you use your back muscles properly. I had issues similar to you before I made sure I used good form on every shot. I would hit left because I was not in proper alignment. Been doing that on and off for years! Now I'm really working on getting my form back and it's soooo much better.

I'm in the market to upgrade my bow. I would like to buckle down and really get to know the new bow held properly,  although i will probably still "MacGuyver" a few twigs into the ring at times...

You will enjoy the journey so much more if you develop proper form. Skipmaster1 gave good advice. Jimmy Blackmon also has some really good videos on youtube.
