Video of my form
« on: June 11, 2013, 02:44:00 PM »
I videoed my self today to see how I was coming along.  I could have sworn that I was at anchor way longer than I really was.  Tell me what should be the next thing to work on.  I did have a real hard time getting to anchor and I think that I have whooped that.

Not to bad Chris.  As you point out you're shooting a little fast but not a show stopper.

What I do see is that your string elbow is a little too low and you are letting the pressure of the bow ride too high in your bow hand.  See how your bow recoils top forward and down?

You might try letting the bow press  lower on the base of your thumb. Just relax that wrist and let the bow find where it wants to press into your hand.  That will help your string elbow lift a little and let the bow jump towards the target with out rotating down.

Just ideas.  Big question is how is your shooting?  If good, then don't change.

Thanks Moe.  I still have some up and down issues.  My left and right is real good.  I have been trying to keep that dang bow hand up with no avail.  I will give those two suggestions and see if it helps.

Your bow hand drop is (I think) a result of having the center of pressure of the bow grip too high in your hand. That and your (again IMO) to low of a string elbow is upsetting the draw force line and causes the bow movement and hand drop.

The draw force line is a line that goes from the center of pressure of the bow in the hand to the arrow nock.  Then IF you extend the line back to the area of the string arm elbow, that will give you a good position for the elbow.

Said another way, if you draw a line from the center of pressure in the bow hand to the string arm elbow, the line shout go through or very near the arrow nock.

Went out and gave it a try.  Its funny how little things make a difference.  Instead of my bow arm going down which I have bee fighting.  My bow arm is moving to the left like it should with still just a little down.  I don't think I was getting my string elbow quiet High enough.  Oh well I still have 19 more practice sessions to get it right.  Since I have two sessions of 30 min a day morning and evening it will be no time.  Also my up and down error tightened way up.  Thanks.

Glad it helped Chris.  Let us know how it's going from time to time.
