Cutting my nose

I need some advice, a few years ago I was shooting great with a caviler tab and one day I started cutting the end of my nose on the side where I anchor. I switched back to a glove and the problem went away. Just recently I started cutting my nose again with the glove.

I will try to post some videos this weekend of me shooting and see if anyone can see any reasons for this...

Untill then, has anyone had this problem and what fixed it?

 I anchor with my middle finger in the corner of my mouth and shoot 3 under. It is happening with 700 gr wood arrows out of a 60# hill style bow and 400 gr carbon arrows out of a 45# r/d bow. I have installed new smaller knock on the string thinking that may be the problem but it did not help. I am starting to think my already bad form is getting worse....

My opinion - it is the nock set. I had the same thing happen this spring. I was just getting in to the Arrow and nock too far with my face.

Try a tie on nock.  Also make sure you are bringing the string to your face not the other way around or turning into the string.  I know a couple of guys who wear bandaids on their noses when they shoot.

Thanks for the advice! I will try to sling a few arrows after work tonight and see what happens.

I recently asked for advise on the same issue.  I'd have blood spattered all over my face, shirt, and arrow.  

I can't say I've found the solution except the one suggested by another poster - wear a piece of clear surgical tape on nose.  You get some strange looks, but without it I'm constantly thinking about my nose/string conflict (I use tie on nocks).  And my mediocre shooting suffers even more.

But if I can learn to keep my head up and straight and remain halfway accurate, I think that may be the cure for me.  I hate wearing that tape!

Which side of your eye does the string align with ?, it should be to the right of center, or left of center for a lefty.

My tie on nocks were cutting my face, I just rotated them a 1/4 turn so the not was away from my face.  No problem since.

I had that problem and it was the raised index on the nock catching, rotated the index out of the way and problems been gone.

For me I opened my stance and that solved that

Brass nock was cutting nose, had to put tape on nose when I shot, got quite a few looks at 3-Ds, started tying nock on and so far I have not cut nose, every once in a while I will hit nose but no bleeding. Same as you I could shoot glove and no problem, but I just seem to shoot better with tab.

I find that overdrawing results in string and nose contact . Look directly at the target and point of impact . During the drawing seqence do not move your head and draw to anchour . No contact will occure unless you continue to turn your head towards the string (in order to lenghten draw for more speed). Never heard of string nose contact when overbowed LOL.

If the string or nockset is hitting your nose it is usually caused by overdrawing. Overdrawing expands the chest and moves the bow arm and nose in the path of the string.

Boy I'm glad to know that I'm not an idiot after all. I've been wearing a bandaid on my nost quite a bit since I switched to three under.
