looking for a coach or mentor
« on: June 24, 2013, 08:00:00 PM »
anyone know of any good coaches or form gurus in the connecticut area?  i feel like i need a little hands on guidance.  I can't see what im doing, and i feel like the value gained by posting videos can only go so far.  even if only for one session.  my shooting is just not where I want it to be, and i get frustrated and start trying new things and i just get all jammed up.

Here is a link for USA Archery coaches.

Yes, they will be target oriented but if you find a L2 or higher, they certainly can help with the form basics.

To my knowledge there is no "list" of just trad instructors.  Give a few in your area a call and talk to them.  you might find what you are looking for.

Level 1 are basically camp counselors.  Introduced to the NTS = very basic.
Level 2  A good introduction to form and many are very good.
Level 3 are coaches that have really should have the form stuff down and have been started on coaching techniques.
Level 4 Have proven their knowledge of the entire program and have certified their knowledge in person with the National Head coach - KiSic Lee.
Level 5 are the elite coaches that travel with national teams both here and abroad.

You can find more complete descriptions here:

 http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Archery/Certification/Certification-Program

As in all things there will be really good ones and some not so good at all levels.

All you can do is contact them and see if you and that individual are a "fit."
