Three under is tearing me apart (literally)
« on: November 07, 2013, 05:00:00 PM »
So...I switched to three under a while back and love it. EXCEPT- my nose is getting torn apart. I'm guessing it is the nock whacking my shnoz due to it (the nock) being at a raised position. Any thoughts on how to cure this? I'm leaving bigger blood trails than most deer I've shot...

Many people use tied-on nocks when shooting 3 under for that reason.  Other than that, try rotating your head so it faces the target more and your nose is more out of the path of the string.  Make sure you bring the bow to your head and don't tilt your head into the bow when you shoot.  Make sure you keep your head absolutely still from release through follow-through.  This is tricky.  I was sure I was keeping my head still, but it was moving.  I had to increase my awareness level of when it was still and when it was moving to a higher degree to solve this.

In one of the MBB videos Rod Jenkins has a piece of tape on his nose.  He said it was to keep his nose from getting scratched up.  I have the same problem with my longbow but not my recurve.  Probably the string angle.  I will be going to tied on nocks as McDave said with my longbow.
