Thumb rings in IBO
« on: November 25, 2013, 01:37:00 AM »
Can someone please tell me if the use of a thumbring is allowed in any of the IBO trad classes?  If a thumb ring is not legal, would a leather thumb tab be legal????

Thanks,

16. Traditional (TRD)

"A recurve or longbow shot with fingers directly contacting the bowstring using a glove,
finger tab, or bare fingers. Archers may use up to two (2) nock locating devices, but they
must use the same nocking point and anchor point for each shot and the index finger must
contact the string in the same place for each shot. The index finger must touch the nock of the arrow. ..........."
Looks to me like the thumb ring is out, but the tab "may" be okay as long as your index finger touches the nock. The rules for every class starts with, "shot with fingers directly contacting the bowstring."

Give Rod Jenkins a call.  I think he's on the rules committee.
