Fred Eichler Shooting Style

I have a few of Fred Eichlers recurve hunting DVD's. Watched a bunch last night and he has a very interesting shooting style. He really cants his body and bow. It definitely works for him. Most of the shots I saw him make were right in the deers shoulder pocket.
I have always shot upright but at times have trouble getting my eyes over the arrow. I'm starting to think it is caused by my multi- focal contact lenses that I am now forced to wear. Well today I spent a little time on the bale shooting canting the bow and making sure to get the arrow under my right eye. At 15 yards my shots were very consistent and accurate as long as I made sure I hit anchor.
How is this style at longer distances.

I don't cant my body but DO cant the bow a little. Long distances are great but I've been shooting like this for 58 years so it's kind of built in. The only thing canting my body does for me is tire me out.

Are you canting your head or shooting body and head erect.

Could you wear a single focus contact lens when you shoot? I tried the multi-focus ones, and while they are fine for everyday life, I think they make it difficult to focus on a spot in the distance when you shoot.

When I hunt I do just that and use a single focus lens. Cant read anything but at least I can see at distance with both eyes and don't loose any depth perception.

All the videos were just re-runs of the ones he produced for Easton Archery. A bought them at the Harrisburgh Sportsmans Show at his booth. I really would not recommend any of the ones I got. Not really much to them. I do like the fact that he acts like 99% of the hunts wearing mis-matched clothes and shooting does and average bucks and happy to do so.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I am going to get out the video out this weekend and do some shooting. I was canting the nbow last night but not really sure of my head position. I do know that I saw the arrow better and was able to follow the arrow much better from the position I was in.

Tony,
I dug my Buffalo DVD out and watched Fred shoot. His style is very similar to what I do after all. He bends at the waist ever so slightly which I do on occaision and I tend to bring my head down a tad to "tighten up" the shot picture before releasing. Thanks for piquing my interest.
