Black Widow pre/post quiver
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:27:00 AM »
I bought a new (used) MAIII a few weeks ago, and had posted a few questions on this site about mounting a side quiver.
I shot the bow quite a bit before actually mounting the quiver (Selway limb bolt 5 arrow), and now my point of impact has shifted to the left.
Anybody have this happen to them? Solution?

I would guess you are doing something slightly different since putting the quiver on the bow.  Perhaps you're putting a little thumb pressure on the grip to offset the weight of the quiver, thus torquing the bow a little.  Maybe you're noticing the arrows in your quiver and that's causing you to move your head/eye a little away from being directly over the arrow.  I would just go down the checklist of alignment and form, because whatever you're doing is evidently too subtle to notice.  I doubt if it has anything to do with the quiver per se, since you don't have it mounted on any working part of the limbs.

I always need weaker arrows with limb mounted quivers.  They definitely affect the bow's performance/tuning a bit.  Assuming you are right handed, left impact could come from the arrows being a bit stiff now that the quiver is mounted.  Add point weight and see if they come back in; at least that will eliminate one variable if it doesn't change.

Hi Paul, he said "limb bolt" mounted.  Wouldn't that make it a riser mounted quiver rather than a limb mounted quiver?  Maybe Elkdude can clarify.

Yes, that's true, but I've noticed some effect even with those, although I have not used them for a long time now.  It's possible that the weight is causing him to torque the bow somehow.

Bolting weight to the side of your bow in the form of a bow quiver will change the balance a little.  It will change the bow's action at release.  Tune your arrows with it on and pretty soon you will not notice it,  The bow will feel natural with it on.  Just re-tune, shoot a lot, and give it a little time.
