I'm not as terrible as I thought I was...
« on: March 06, 2015, 07:36:00 PM »
I've been shooting an old 45lb Bear Kodiak Hunter off and on for the last couple years. I could never shoot it very well. I just thought I wasn't cut out for trad shooting.

I decided to try another bow and ended up trading a compound bow I had for a used Bow River 60lb Whitetailer T/D Longbow. It was like night and day shooting this bow. It was fast and smooth and I was hitting was I wanted to! I still have a lot of practicing to do, but my confidence is growing, and is my enthusiasm for hunting with this long bow. Hopefully I'll be ready for turkey season next month. I guess I didn't realize how much better I could shoot a nice bow, I might have gotten a new one earlier!

I too usually shoot a new bow great, until I have a chance to impart my bad habits on it too.

Some bows work better for you than others, thats good you found one.  The people cut out for trad archery are the ones who enjoy it enough to practice IMHO. I know I need practice. Good hunting.
